What should I know about oil paintings?

The main thing to note about oil paintings is the drying time. A painting that is not dry to the touch will never be shipped or displayed, but caution should always be used when handling an oil painting, as they can take six months up to a few years to dry and cure completely. The variability in drying time depends on how thick the paint layers are.

Does the purchase price include the frame?

No, but frames can be added for an additional investment.

Does the purchase price include shipping?

Yes.

Are there payment plans available?

Please reach out to Julia directly via the Contact page to discuss payment plans for original artworks. Payment plans do not apply to commissioned artworks and are not guaranteed.

How long until I receive my artwork?

If you purchased an original artwork, it will be shipped within 5-7 days. Adding a frame will add an additional 3-5 days to the timeframe. For commissions, please refer to the commission FAQs. If you purchased a print, it will be shipped within 10-14 days.

What’s the difference between the original artwork and a print reproduction?

The original artwork is one-of-a-kind and painted by the artist onto canvas. Print reproductions are high resolution images of the artwork laser printed onto archival, or museum-quality, paper.

I want a custom piece but I don’t know how to go about it. Where should I start?

If you’re looking for a commission, or a custom piece, please reach out to Julia via the Contact page.

What can I expect from the commission process?

Julia will respond to your inquiry within 48 hours. From there, she will work with you to set up a time to discuss what you’re looking for (including but not limited to: size, color and intended display location). It is helpful to make note of her existing works that speak to you. If you are located within the North Dallas metropolitan area, Julia is happy to meet with you in person to discuss the piece and see the intended display location in person. If you are not located within this area, a video chat can be set up for this purpose. After initial discussion, investment costs will be discussed, including deposit information.

Will I be able to approve my commission beforehand?

Part of trusting an artist to paint a custom piece for you is just that: trust. While there will be some check-ins during the process, the initial conversations will be transparent, thorough and honest, ensuring you feel comfortable from start-to-finish.

Is a deposit required on a commissioned piece?

Yes, a 50% deposit will be required before any work is started.

How long will my commission take?

Depending upon size, scale and Julia’s commission queue, commissions can take anywhere from one to six months to complete.
